How is social innovation in the field of social work defined and characterized? An alternative to the technological approach, the concept is defined as the implementation of projects with significant social impact in order to strengthen democratic ideals. The international literature has enabled the concept of innovation in social work to be seen as a solution for articulating new responses to this work, while reinforcing its values. This article offers theoretical and practical proposals for characterizing social work innovation projects, for the benefit of social workers and clients.
