Placing a child in a medical-social institution, whatever the reasons, causes an upheaval that the child will try to tame throughout his or her adult life. From denial to public exposure, from shame to valorization, the child will find the right way to develop in a personal or collective process. In recent years, changes to the medico-social environment and to training have offered an alternative, valorizing the experience and participation of former children in care in supporting their peers and in training the professionals concerned.
