This article contributes to the field of perinatal clinical psychology. It proposes to think about the origins of psychic life and the conditions of its emergence, based on the conceptualization of a process referred to as “infantality,” mirroring the parentality elaborated by Racamier. Early perinatal relationships and the issues they raise are at the heart of our approach, as the cradle of this infantality, of the “becoming a subject,” drawing on the notions of identification, subjectivation, and the baby’s autonomization/individuation.
