The markings children draw on their bodies can sometimes look like real tattoos that are reminiscent of some cultural customs of drawing the history of ancestors on the skin. The mark and the drawing the child places on his/her skin rather than on a sheet of paper express the difficult task of becoming a unified human being with regards to the family unit. The separation anxieties resulting from family traumas impede autonomy and lead children to appropriation attempts closest to the corporal body.
