Cohabitation between pets and humans is an important characteristic of the western civilization: more than one family out of two has a pet. But sometimes a pet may cause traumas and can be considered as a vector of zoological diseases or allergen agents: for infants such risks are increased because of their immune immaturity and their incapability to fight diseases. Integration of the environmental features is necessary to secure the global and adequate caring of the pregnant mother and her child.The birth of a new child will be facilitated and secured through a sound awareness of the hazards related to the presence of an animal, the knowledge of the means to avoid them and also the defining of the pet’s position in the family.
