Why Violence?

Violence at school is a recurring phenomenon that seems unavoidable. Some believe that nothing can be done to reduce and regulate it in a constructive way. The present structures do not establish a barrier in terms of contact, protection, or relating. In addition, they do not establish a barrier between the outside and the inside, and between society and the individual. Schools fail to fulfill their function of providing an intermediary social education that protects young generations from being directly immersed in the horrors and the perpetual disorders of the world and in some cases of their families. Based on their experience, the authors of this article argue that other school structures are possible, which have already been implemented in a few places. However, these are seldom mentioned. To speak about them would amount to denouncing laziness and the absence of a willingness to think seriously about the present conditions of transmission between generations.
