Referring to a few philosophical, anthropological, or psychological points, this paper reviews the key components of the extraordinarily complex human gaze. It aims to identify the main perceptive properties of sight from a psychological perspective. This paper examines the relevance of a neuroethology of sight, which serves as the basis of hypotheses aimed at understanding the functional deficiencies of communication in autism based on categories of exchanges observed in the construction of gazes. This paper attests to the relevance of current research in the physiology of perception.
