Self-Injury: Perspectives on Three Interviews with Teenagers

This article takes support on a sociological interview led by focused interviews with teenagers. It explores self-injurious behaviors by linking three points: the life stories of the interviewed persons, the concrete modalities of their injuries and the emotional systems which give them meaning. This approach leads to the following idea: self-injury seeks to maintain or restore a given emotional and symbolic order.
