The children taken into emergency care in child protection homes have suffered, for many, from trauma and especially from serious relational discontinuity. What is then primordial in the work with them is to enable them to rediscover a certain confidence in their environment and to weave authentic and reliable links. This work is long, far from the timeframe of court orders, and difficult to maintain in the face of reality. This article relates my professional experience within these institutions, the specific framework I have developed with these children, and how the interviews offered and the accompaniment during journeys to my office had a holding function.
