This text questions the evolution of the naming and concepts behind the different ways of coping clinically, pedagogically and socially with learning difficulties met during a child’s development, especially when he is confronted with the requirements of school. The many forms of knowledge are underlined in their dynamic value of getting a person to work, opening up creativity and resourcefulness as much in concerned professionals as in children in difficulty and their parents.
