History of child culture through toys

The history of child culture cannot be reduced to that of toys, even though they are a reference point and a remarkable vector. From antique clay dolls to the interactive electronic toys of today, including the products of the different cultural and industrial revolutions that followed in rapid succession in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, a slow evolution can be traced which, because it is expanding rapidly today, raises questions about the essential values that need to be given priority in the construction of the child. This article stems directly from the new museographic presentation elaborated at the Toy Museum of the Ville de Poissy. The toys of yesterday are honoured in the context of each epoch. The toys of today offer a reflection of our current global consumer society.
