The global situation of the health landscape has evolved considerably since the creation of the Medico-Psychological Centers (CMPs). Demand is constantly increasing, and active files have multiplied to the point of saturating the possibilities of response. In spite of efforts by the majority of the CMP’s to prioritize and hierarchicize requests for consultations, the waiting times for the first consultation, as well as for the implementation of the project of care and interventions, remain on average too long. This justifies a re-examination of the functions of the CMP. It could organize its missions around two axes: 1st axis: “Intake, initial diagnostic evaluation, orientation and short-term care” ; 2nd axis: “In-depth diagnosis and treatment for complex disorders” These two axes will thus be realized in two distinct but coordinated sub-units of the CMP. This new organization would make it possible to reduce the waiting lists by proposing an initial diagnostic evaluation and an orientation adapted to each situation.
