Personal recourse to the superhero
Type de matériel :
41
Owing to his power and ability to rise above the laws inherent to ordinary humanity, the superhero is a post-modern myth, a reformulation of ancient myths on the scale, and with the means and values, of contemporary worlds. The superhero is a mediator between self and others, a bypath to escape the heaviness of being oneself, personal wounds and a sense of lack of being. Halfway between fantasy and reality, the internalized hero is a sensory shield to ward off feelings of disarray and suffering. Serving as an imaginary support when faced with the harshness of daily life, he offers superficial depth insofar as his simplicity gives rise to numerous individual projections for young people who re-appropriate the characters. He embodies the powers and resources that all adolescents dream of, without ever being able to satisfy them.
