Time and parent-baby care or temporal paradoxes in perinatal psychiatry
Type de matériel :

Perinatal psychiatry is based on joint care, care for the relationship being built up between the baby and its parents. As such, any situation that threatens the developing bond justifies the provision of a therapeutic setting of varying intensity (outpatient care, day hospital, full-time inpatient unit). Rather than depending on the severity of the parents’ psychopathology, the choice between these different modalities could be based on their difficulties in adapting to the baby’s needs, the rhythms of daily life and organising time for the baby. In this paper, we look at referral services, day units and full-time inpatient units, and how they deal with the rhythms and temporality of babies and parents.
