Les Courtillières, France: An Extraordinary Account of an Ordinary Housing Estate
Type de matériel :
52
In renovating urban estates an appeal has been made to a form of history that owes more to the memory of the past than to the fully rounded and dispassionate reconstruction of the past that should temper the case for their possible demolition. This study, focused on the Courtilières estate at Pantin on the edge of Paris, reveals the full complexity of the issues and the strategies of the actors involved in the construction of these developments. It is this history which is necessary to understand urban estates in all their diversity.
