Suburban areas are usually looked upon as the middle class space par excellence. Since 2002 and with the recent electoral change, voting patterns of suburban areas inhabitants have led to a growing stigmatization of these areas which are sometimes seen as bastions of protest and extremism. Using “right at the polling booth” opinion polls collected during the 2007 presidential election, this paper intends to show that in a suburban context as anywhere else, the social status and trajectories of residents have a sizeable impact on their electoral choices.
