Back to the City: Conflicting Scenarios. The Case of University of Paris XIII
Type de matériel :
49
Since its inception in 1971, University of Paris XIII (Paris North) has faced dual problems of urban integration and territorial strategy. Contemporary plans to reposition Paris XIII in the academic context of Ile de France, and more particularly in the North of Paris, face structural difficulties of urban integration in particular on the main campus site of Villetaneuse. The use of comparative-historical and spatial analysis updates the determinism that saffect the development choices and strategies of the various actors now in charge of the destiny of the university and its relationship with the urban environment. The development of an inter-municipal project, the opportunity to have a public development in the area, scientists and territorial strategies of the Presidency of the University increased since enactment of the 2007 Law lru to form objectively new conditions to rethink the “back to the city university”. However, Paris XIII cannot easily forget its past nor wipe the slate clean of its urban failures whose flaws constantly replay the decision and place it under the sign of schizophrenia.
