The creation of a lodging house for families in a mixed area of Paris is the object of a qualitative study in urban and visual sociology. Observing the experiences of the new residents, who were previously living in poor housing, and the processes by which they adapt to new living space and settle into this shared environment are conducive to a specific methodological approach : documentary film of the urban walking tour. This approach to encourage discussion of different experiences of the living areas is submitted to examination. In the manner of detailed enquiry, our aim is to present this experiment and to propose a critical examination of this method which leads to a new interpersonal form of investigation, i.e. a new framework for joint observation and sociological coproduction.
