This papers aims to evaluate the long-term influence of Patrick Geddes’ survey on Spanish urban planning. The analysis of international planning network and their exchanges shows firstly the transformation of a scientific method into a planning tool. Secondly, the study points out to the integration and adaptation of the English survey in Spanish planning culture. The English town planners’ systematization of Geddes’ survey as well as the diffusion of English town planning in Spain contributed to the realization of the first Spanish survey in 1929. The survey of the city of Madrid became a model for Spanish town planning. The object of this paper is to show the traces of this evolution on Spanish planning culture.
