Psychotic transference and supervision

Most of the work devoted to the Lacanian clinic of psychosis focuses exclusively on the inversion of the supposition of transference and on the jouissance of the Other. Whilst not irrelevant, this conception remains incomplete. It neutralises the analysing task in short-circuiting the effectiveness of the subject supposed to know, and thus the possibility of psychoanalysis. On the other hand, the analogy between the specificity of psychotic transference and the situation of supervision in psychoanalysis, which implies a sort of “second view” on transference, enables both taking account of and exceeding what appears initially to be an impasse in the cure, without reducing it to a psychotherapy.
