A scathing debate is going in the French Caribbean public discourse on the slavery role in colonial history. Competitive memorial strategies testify to the various affiliations. The analysis of the founder rape, a vivid myth in French West Indies representations, shows that the relation to history stumbles against memorial events nurturing the original trauma together with fratricide conflicts. These representations inhibit building a reconciled memory with its multiple components, while the creolisation has made possible a multiplicity of affiliations.
