The female body is widely described in Female Tunisian contemporary novels: dominated and hurt, it is also the site of resistance to male domination. This article deals with constraints that Female Tunisian writers have to face: the body’s expression is subjected to censorship by male members of their family, but they are prompted to transgress social norms by their colleague writers, literary critics, and editors. The article highlights the processes that tend to exclude female writers from literary recognition and at the same time, their strategies to assert their creative skills.
