For thirty years, the coastal town of Ouidah in Southern Benin has been in a process of heritagization of voodoo cults and slavery past. The article analyses the overlapping discursive and moral logics as well as the ceremonial, architectural, monumental exposures at work in this process. It shows how Ouidah transformed itself from an ancient slavery post to a small cosmopolitan capital city in which history is turned into a cultural resource.
