Convinced of the political responsibility of the writer by Bernanos and Péguy, Emmanuel Mounier criticized Malraux’s lyrical illusion in 1948. In the 1960s, Ricœur then defended the hermeneutics of meaning against structuralism. The journal’s position remains the same, but literature has cut its ties to politics to attach itself to humanities.
