Islam and phantasm, phantasm of Islam. Between translations and re-appropriations

The regulation of sexuality in Islam is not structured around a flesh-spirit dualism but around a phantasm of absolute jouissance and a masculine defense against castration. However, during the long “love-hate” history between Islam and the West, we imagine the advent of a playwright made for identificatory projection, illustrating the impossibility of translation and capture by the gaze. This results in a kind of Christianizing of Islam concomitant with the installation of a modern superego. Fundamentalist Islam today is an attempt to re-appropriate the phantasm, as well as the masculine defense against castration.
