In 1914, Freud published the last of his technical papers, translated as Remembering, Repeating and Working-Through. The neologism “Working-Through,” adopted from 1967, is a term that absolutely does not define a new concept on his part. It concerns the ultimate and decisive phase of analytic work, after the processes of remembering and repeating, which marks the end of the treatment, allowing the patient to “make his own way.”
