This work aims at examining the influence of career anchors on the career plateauing of public sector workers in Cameroon. 201 employees of the public sector were interviewed; both males and females, and the results show that workers mainly look for a harmonious standard of living, job security and the need to meet new challenges. Furthermore, in the male category, lifestyle anchor acts positively on structural plateauing whereas career and entrepreneurship anchors have a negative impact on either structural or voluntary plateauing. In the female category, security and technical challenges anchors have a positive influence on either voluntary or salary plateauing on the one hand, or on structural plateauing on the other hand. On the contrary, there are negative links between lifestyle, technical and entrepreneurship anchors on the one hand, and content, voluntary or salary plateauing on the other hand.
