Type de matériel :

Beginning in the interwar period, automobile factories were the subject of numerous photographic essays analysed here as expressions of an iconic nationalindustrial system that symbolically associated the qualities of the automobile factory with those of the nation. The iconic content and the practical configurations characteristic of this system are presented through a comparative study of French, German and American photographic documents. The text also looks at the mediations through which photographic work and industrial work were associated within this visual system.
