Sharing Gender Constraints with Survey Respondents: Reflections on the Case of Saudi Arabia
Type de matériel :
39
Starting from an ethnographic survey conducted in Riyadh, a city marked by the separation and hierarchical organisation of various categories of people, this article shows how reflecting on the socialisation of gender constraints can help to clarify what is specific to this social relationship in the context under study. By facing constraints on a daily basis comparable to those that restrict the activities of Saudi women, it is possible to analyse by comparison how the women experience and overcome those constraints, which can be regarded as their gender experience.
