The Production of Elite Residential Complexes (Brussels, xviiith-xxth Centuries)
Type de matériel :
6
"Through analysis of four historical residential complexes (Place Saint-Michel, xviiith c. ; the Notre-Dame-aux-Neiges and Berkendael neighborhoods, late xixth c. ; Rogier International Center, mid-xxth c.), we will look at the material production of elite urban space in Brussels through the sites, actors, programs, and impacts of these urbanist projects. We will give particular attention to some of their characteristic traits : public authorities’ determinant role in their development, such complexes’ long-term contributions to elites’ long-term territorial rootedness, and what these projects reveal of the forms of social domination in the city."
