French Stakes in Brazil between the Two Wars: The Military Mission
Type de matériel :
37
An historical analysis of the French military mission sent to Brazil in 1919. The contract, ensuring a French monopoly of the supplies for the Brazilian Army then in full expansion, transforms the mission into a significant political and economic engagement. In spite of objections and envy which it evokes in other powers, it is able to be maintained and to deeply influence the Brazilian Army. Finally, in 1940, following the French defeat, by imposition of the German Commission Armistice, the French Military Mission is dissolved thus allowing its substitution by an American military mission.
