Facing suffering or discomfort, the client’s involvement and active participation has, as a goal, introducing changes in his or her personal and professional life. The proper use of the panoply of humor can be a lever, a stepping stone to help establish another relationship with the world. Through various vignettes taken from different fields of the author’s professional practice, the author proposes to explore the essence and sense of humor, its function of “shaking things up” in order to introduce some lightness in the work without losing sight of the seriousness of the human condition which it upholds.
