The author tries to describe the circumstances under which he discovered Gestalt therapy and how, his wife in the terminal phase of cancer, found her own path and unexpected serenity thanks to the encounter with the writings of Master Eckhart, Dominican theologian and philosopher. The article testifies both to the necessary learning of a greater presence in life, facing an inevitable announced death, and to the relevance of the intuitions of the founders of Gestalt therapy whose applications go beyond the therapeutic framework, in particular concerning organismic self-regulation.
