The multinational that cut down forests

A poem written to support a local struggle. On the cusp between the French Alps and Provence, Samuel Loire, a “sea farmer” and environmental activist, tells the story of a Canadian multinational coming to raze Giono’s forests to install solar panel fields. Local residents have formed groups to oppose the project. 500 hectares! Forests are ten times cheaper than industrial wasteland. Faced with a repetitive pattern of exploitation rather than care, the author proposes a sensitive and political experience in which people, trees, and mountains are linked.
