This article explores the non-state levers of action that would enable the project of a social ecology to be carried forward. It does so through the ethnography of an environmentalist mobilization carried out between 2018 and 2021 in a squat in a Parisian banlieue. After introducing social ecology, and the relationship between ecology, the urban environment, and squats, this ethnography will give rise to reflections on political ecology.
