Canine mediation is currently undergoing very significant development. Practitioners who have integrated this activity into their professional approach are not always aware of how important it is to carefully monitor the dog’s emotional and physical state.In this article, we present the close partnership between an animal mediation structure, the GRAMMA association, and a veterinary behaviorist.This collaboration is organized around a usual clinical examination, along with a behavioral assessment of the dogs working in the mediation workshops. The use of a specific assessment grid makes it possible to follow the evolution of the dog’s emotional state through regular monitoring and to direct the animal toward suitable workshops and audiences, while ensuring that everyone’s needs are respected.This professional approach to canine mediation should, in our opinion, be present in all mediation practitioner trainings and is starting to be integrated into some of them.
