Claude Habib’s research focuses on eighteenth-century French literature. It is notably from a reading of Jean-Jacques Rousseau that she begins to revise her spontaneous feminism, initially universalist and of Beauvoirian inspiration. In the school of Rousseau, she recognizes the value of the sexual division. In her latest book, she investigates “the trans question” and shows how the expansion of the demand for identity transition meets the question of feminism by raising new questions and divisions.
