There is a growing interest in physical activities among policies aimed at limiting the effects of ageing. International institutions (WHO, OECD, EU) have published documents supporting the role played by nutrition and physical activity for “Healthy Ageing.” Indeed, many countries were made aware of this and are now taking action and creating plans. Private operators supported by public and private financers also play a proactive role in convincing and coordinating participants, thus developing their own activities. The Siel bleu group is one of these operators. Created in France in 1997, this association has achieved great success due to its expertise in the field and the development of effective activity programs, but also because of its work with communities, healthcare professionals, and pension funds to convince them to develop their activities within various structures such as EHPAD, public bodies, and associations. This model has often been reproduced in other European countries. This paper seeks to provide feedback from experiments within the Siel bleu group and its European offshoots to better understand the reasons behind their success and thus give an account of the keys to the development of physical activity among older people. To carry out this study, we conducted interviews with the leaders of the French, Irish, and Belgian structures. On the basis of these semi-structured interviews, we present the issues and also what obstacles were encountered and how they were addressed or anticipated.
