When it comes to the issue of spatially adapting territories to the aging of society, providing suitable housing for the elderly tops the list. This article, based on critical feedback on the work carried out by the departmental council of Isère to expand suitable housing for the elderly, explores the inequalities that the elderly face regarding the supply of housing. It presents the challenges of producing a diversified housing supply adapted to the multitude of situations and aspirations of the elderly, as well as the fragility of the economic model of these products due to the importance of integrated services. These inequalities are put into perspective with their anchoring to the territory via the notion of territorial capability and via the emergence of pooling strategies and the convergence of public policies.
