Par : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2024. Sujet(s) : Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a psychological disorder whose incidence continues to rise around the world as a result of wars and armed conflicts, natural disasters, and domestic violence, and whose treatment proves highly complex. Treatments are based on a variety of techniques aimed at reducing chronic stress, improving connection with the body, and reconciliation with the past. Yoga, an age-old discipline helping to strengthen the body/mind connection, is a non-medicinal therapeutic option recognized by the American Psychiatric Association. Consisting of physical postures, mindfulness techniques (meditation) and breathing exercises, Yoga encourages focusing one’s attention on the present moment, being aware without judgment of one's emotions and bodily sensations, and feeling at one with the body.It also helps balance the central nervous system, and curb the dysregulation of the sympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for PTSD symptoms.Yogatherapy has a wide range of applications in the treatment of post-traumatic stress, and is now used by veterans, refugees, and victims of domestic violence.
