China, the Shanghai cooperation organization and the «coloured revolutions» During the Nineties, thanks to the activities of the «Shanghai Group» – «Shanghai Cooperation Organizations» (SCO) since 2001 –, China normalized its relations with its new Central-Asian neighbors before gradually increasing its influence in this area. In spite of the American penetration in Central Asia following the events of September 11,2001, Beijing and Moscow succeeded in extending the activities of the SCO and in increasing its influence in Central Asia in particular, by using the wave of «coloured revolutions». This drift is worrying for the future of the democracy in this area.
