Interview with writer and journalist Caroline Fourrest, co-founder and editor of the review ProChoix, a feminist, antiracist and secular journal. Feminism is fully intertwined with secularism. Secular feminism is the best remedy against religious antifeminism. Beyond the notion of secularism, there is a need to rehabilitate the universal vocation of feminism. As we can see through the debates over the Islamic veil or mixed public places, some answer the issue of discriminations through communalism while others adopt a more ambitious attitude consisting in fighting racism without ever giving up on their quest of equal opportunity and universal rights. This latter attitude takes longer but is more efficient to deconstruct prejudices in depth and it generates less side effects.
