Maritime trade is vital to the global economy. The end of political bipolarization has given rise to regional separatist claims along with the rebirth of jihadism whose most radical militants have broadened their scope to the entire globe. Those organizations carry out strategic global terrorism that could create a state of economic uncertainty and social chaos through the disruption of global economy. The maritime part of this strategy has grown steadily, however, it has been masked by the far more dramatic and frequent ground attacks.Locally, very effective specific expertise has been developed. Maritime modi operandi of terrorist organizations tend to merge under some form of financing, tactical and technological barter that transcends ideological differences. Could the consecutive operational improvement destabilize the global economy to such a level that the jihadists achieve the political objectives they have set?
