After the hacks of the Democratic National Committee and Emmanuel Macron campaign team’s webservers, the visibility of offensive actions attributed to Russia in cyberspace has increased significantly. Far from having been anticipated by Western countries, this new type of attack is characterized by its elusive nature regarding to classical European and US categorizations of cyberattacks. This paper seeks to analyze the actions assigned to Russia regarding its particular history in the field of computation and content management from its Soviet grassroots to contemporary times.
