Corsica in march... to independence!

Par : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2018. Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : The Corsican voters massively pronounced themselves in December 2017 in favor of a large nationalist coalition led under the consensual banner of a “country to be built,” un paese da fa. Doing so, they approve fifty years of a political fight developed by the brothers Simeoni since the 1960s and question, once again, the links between Corsica and the French Republic. This intense electoral episode is based on a strange paradox by favoring, at the same moment, a sovereignist protester vote and a massive abstention – an unusual fact on an island where local elections raise ordinary mobilizing passions. Will these new nationalist representatives be able to frank themselves from a victimization speech translating the difficult questions of local or national identity for a small society confronted to globalization and multiculturalism? How will they develop speeches of emancipation with such a strong dependence towards public funds and living on a guaranteed income with France?
