In France, economic journalism has gone through major transformations since the late 70s : its adhesion to economics has deeply changed its nature. It was first highly critical, in a stance designed to reconcile economics and sociology but it got progressively converted to the new laws of economics. This conversion has both internal factors (the development of the specialized press, the changes in sources, and the evolving expectations of the readership) as well as external ones (a wider circulation of economic issues in both the public and the political spheres).
