A Critical Taxonomy of Interdisciplinarity
Type de matériel :
28
This article attempts to provide a taxonomy of interdisciplinarity as defined in the literature, according to whether the epistemology of interacting disciplines is similar or not, according to the way researchers handle communication and according to the stated purpose of collaboration. Are they investigating concepts by comparing disciplinary points of view, explaining complex phenomena by breaking them down into constituent parts, or trying to resolve a specific problem? The article also discusses the “new disciplinarity” developed by Terry Shinn.
