The emotional and sexual career of women who move from adultery to sexual hedonism and on to polyamory opens up a field for studies of communication patterns, both verbal and non-verbal, between these women and their partners, especially their spouses. A dual trend emerges: the interplay of debt and counter-debt within couples, which can show jealousy in a constructive light, and social screening of the potential lover(s) of each spouse, through which the latter exert some control over the risks of a mismatch.
