Par : Contributeur(s) : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2022. Sujet(s) : Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : This article seeks to analyze how Arabic opinion journalism has covered the role of Russia in Syria since 2011. It examines a sample of articles published in two Arabic newspapers that have contrasting political viewpoints: al-Akhbar and Asharq al-Awsat. Al-Akhbar has affinities with Iran, the Lebanese Hezbollah, and the Assad regime, all of which are Russian allies, while Asharq al-Awsat is aligned with Saudi politics and is unfavorable to the Syrian regime and Russian politics. These two ideologically-oriented newspapers participate in the information war between regional actors and reinforce their readers’ preexisting ideas and attitudes about Syria.
