Homeless women: itinerancy as a mode of survival
Type de matériel :
44
Being a homeless woman – or, to cite the Latin American term, “habitante de calle” (“street dweller”) – means always having to walk, ceaselessly, in order to accomplish anything. Walking is the only way to get around. Because homeless women are not able to pay for public transportation, they have to walk to obtain public services, visit associations, find food and places suitable for begging, store their belongings, and sleep. Sometimes, they must walk through part or all of the night to avoid being harassed or attacked. Living on the street means being constantly coerced into walking.
